As if our summer of 2011 playlist needed any more songs, the duo Pepper Rabbit walks into our lives with their recently released album, and boy is it a magical listen! Pepper Rabbit is easy to compare to MGMT vocally on this album, and the production is no less than extraordinary. The album consists of 10 solid tracks and awesome cover art to say the least. Xander Singh and Luc Laurent really put their feet into this project!
Their album, "Red Velvet Snow Ball" opens up with a track called "Tiny Fingers". The sound of this song awakens your senses and causes you to exhale in satisfaction because it is such a breath of fresh air. This track has a carnival-ish sound and the vocals are soothing and mellow. The second and most hype track on the album is called "The Ballad Of Alessandro Moreschi", this is the track you play at those all nighter BBQ's with friends or those beach bon-fires looking at the sun rise. It is truly beautiful with the drums playing a major part in the beat. "Dance Card" is definetly a head-bopping song, it lights a fire in your soul and daggers your heart making you tear because it's so darn BEAUTIFUL. You can't not be touched by this song, it's just the right amount of drama and nostalgia making you reminisce on your younger days.
The other stand-out tracks on this album are "The Annexation Of Puerto Rico" and "Lake House", both are comparable to a happy movie soundtrack. These tracks make your earlobes throb with joy and your feet tap to the rhythms of the addicting beats. Pepper Rabbit may be a new name to most household's in America, but after hearing this album, I guarantee it will become a familiar one within a few listens. It is too good to pass up, so I advise you all to check out Pepper Rabbit, and give this lucky charm a listen.
