Get To Know Emerging Rapper A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky, AKA "That pretty motha'f***a", AKA "Pretty Flaco", is reviving Harlem bred Hip Hop that was last lead by the Dipset gang. Rakim Meyers, age 23, is the celebrity member of the A$AP (Always $trive and Prosper) group, a brotherhood complete with rules and regulations. He did not create the group, but he sure is putting them on the forefront with his mixtape "Live. Love. A$AP."

Although the brotherhood is often compared to OFWGKTA, they are quite the opposite. Odd Future raps about obscene violent acts and they skateboard, A$AP Rocky raps about chillin' in the hood, drinking forties and "gettin' all the hoes," and his crew does just that.

After receiving an estimated 3 milliion dollar deal and full control over the marketing of his music and image, Rocky took that freedom and soared above and beyond with his creativity. His latest music video for his song "Wassup" off of his debut mixtape, is a prime example of how he used his creative ideas and awesome movie references to create his ideal dream world. He also directs/co-directs all of his music videos, which is something that he should be recognized for, besides his rapping.

He has been widely recognized for his debut song "Peso," which has been spun on the airwaves of Hot97 and viewed on television channels such as MTV and BET. He starts off the song with a line that describes him and his A$AP team perfectly:

"I be that pretty motha'f***a, Harlem's what i'm reppin' tell my n***a's quit the bitchin' we gon' make it in a second!"

Rocky is also heavily into fashion, one of the main brands that he is into is Jeremy Scott for Adidas, claiming to have worn Jeremy's fashions as a youngster growing up in Harlem.

His biggest misconception is that he is a "gangster," when in fact, he considers himself to be a nice, down to earth guy.
