Frank Ocean, OF Wolf Gang, Kills Them All.

Written by Amanda Denett

" I know that we sin but I do believe we try". And all that trying is finally paying off. Frank Ocean isn't your typical 23-year-old. He has put out only ONE mixtape and took the music scene by storm. He has written for some extraordinary artists such as: Brandy, John Legend, Beyonce and Justin Bieber. On top of that, Ocean also has a spot in the hip hop gang called Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA), which is one of the most popular hip hop groups of today.

Frank Ocean released "Nostalgia, Ultra" back in February after being fed up with his record label Island Def Jam. Supposedly, "Nostalgia, Ultra" was scheduled to have been Ocean's debut album. After being "shelved" and not given the proper guidance from Def Jam , Ocean decided to leak his album out of frustration. He tweeted  "I. did. this. not ISLAND DEF JAM. that's why you see no label logo on the artwork that I DID. guess its my fault for trusting my dumbass lawyer and signing my career over to a failing company. fuck DEF JAM & any company that goes the length of signing a kid with dreams & talent w/ no intention of following through. fuck em."

After just a couple of months, "Nostalgia, Ultra" took the world by storm. Frank Ocean became a weekly trending topic on Twitter and started to blow up the radio with one of the tracks called "Novacane". The thing that makes "Nostalgia, Ultra" so great is the variety of music. He uses samples from Coldplay to The Eagles to MGMT. Ocean brings a special authenticity to his lyrics and he makes them extremely relatable. He is all about being your own and thinking outside of the box. Not to mention he has the pipes to back it up. I believe this is only the beginning for Ocean. I wonder what he will produce now with his record label being onboard. What's next for Frank Ocean? Well his current single "Novacane" is currently on iTunes and he will be re-releasing "Nostalgia, Ultra" in July with a few new tracks.
