A Thousand Suns Tour at Madison Square Garden!

Written by Amanda Denett

It was a cold Friday night on February 4th, the crowd of dedicated fans at the sold out Madison Square Garden concert were eager to hear Linkin Park perform and they were not disappointed as Linkin Park managed to prove that rock music still exists in the 21st century.

The night started out with two opening acts. Both bands sounded similar, kind of like hard rock mixed with electronica. One band was from England called Does It Offend You, Yeah? Their set was something like you'd see at a college party. It was just a bunch of dudes and the most awesome girl bass player, jumping around and basically having a jam session. It was great to watch. Next up was the 6 boy power-group called Pendulum. They were great with the easy sing-a-longs and simple melodies, and were still able to pull of the hard rock feel. Pretty awesome! Both bands reflected the style of Linkin Park's new album that dropped back in September, called A Thousand Suns.

Around 8:50 the lights went out and that was the moment the whole arena was waiting for. Before you knew it, Rob, Phoenix, Mike, Brad, and Chester took the stage. Linkin Park played a mixture of songs, some old, but most new. The crowd was so on fire that even the front man Chester Bennington told the audience to "calm the fuck down". There is something about there stage presence that really captivates fans and makes you appreciate rock music. Another fascinating thing about that night, was the diversity of the crowd. You had every type of race, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, and even grandfathers! Somehow Linkin Park brought everyone in that 20,000 arena together.

They performed 25 songs in total and ended around 11 o'clock. In addition, each ticket were FREE of convenience fees and every single fan received a FREE digital audio download for the show they attended. How awesome is that?! This gives the fans the ability to relive the greatness of Linkin Park live. I highly recommend everyone to go and check out a Linkin Park show. They're extraordinary performers and they create this special energy when they're onstage. This is there first US tour for their new album so we can definitely expect a summer tour *crosses fingers*.

Luckily for those of you who missed the show, FUSE was there that night recording the whole thing! Make sure you check out the taping, airing this Friday, February, 18th @ 9:30pm/8:30c .

Below is the video LP posted on their youtube channel to help promote their current North American Tour. Check it out :-)

Here are my some of my own pictures that were taken on my crappy cellphone. Front row baby!
